Initial Statement – Acquisition of Yilgarn Iron Ore Project by Yilgarn Iron Investments Pty Ltd
Yilgarn Iron Investments Pty Ltd (YIIPL) recently finalised a Share and Asset Sale Agreement with Mineral Resources Limited (MinRes) and its wholly owned subsidiary Polaris Metals Pty Ltd (Polaris) for the purchase of the Yilgarn Iron Ore Project which comprises all of the issued capital in Yilgarn Iron Pty Ltd (YIPL) and relevant tenements owned by Polaris.
YIIPL is well placed to operate and progressively rehabilitate one of Western Australia’s oldest iron ore mining precincts. Its leadership team has substantial experience in iron ore operations in Western Australia and is committed to working with a full range of stakeholders and partners, including the Marlinyu Ghoorlie Native Title Group and the WA Government, to ensure the project is successful.
Background
Yilgarn Iron Ore Project includes the sites of Koolyanobbing, Carina, Jackson Ranges, Mt Manning, Windarling and Parker Range plus exploration targets. The Yilgarn region has a long history of iron ore mining and is located in the Shires or Yilgarn and Menzies with ore being railed to Esperance Port for export. The productive mining areas are located on the land of the Marlinyu Ghoorlie Native Title Group.
The new management team has secured investment funding to acquire and continue to develop the Yilgarn Iron Ore Hub. Management will be refocusing operations around the Koolyanobbing ore processing facility with a planned re-commencement of haulage operations in 2025 and initial mining in late 2025. The intention is to continue mining and rehabilitation activities hand in hand while also drilling exploration targets within the project area.
